During the event we had a cell phone hook up with the London Santarchy!
Of course they were 5 hours ahead and already drunk, but we got to do a "Baltimore Ho ho ho / hello" from the states and they did a big London Santa Shout back to us.
AND....Our illustrious Deb from the DC Burner Choir got on the London phone as well, as she was in London joining the Brittish Brigade of Santas.

Chicago, IL – Christmas can be hard work, especially for Santa and his many helpers. As a thank you for bringing holiday cheer to everyone, the Chicago Blackhawks will offer up to 50 Santas a chance to start their vacation right by attending a Blackhawks game on their first day off - Wednesday, December 26, 2007.

The “Vacationing Santas” will sit together in the stadium as guests of the Blackhawks and will be required to dress in “Vacationing Santa” holiday garb (think holiday hat, beard, and Hawaiian-style shirt). Hard working Mrs. Claus’ will also be welcome, again in costume.

The December 26, 2007, game against Nashville is a home televised game so “Vacationing Santas” should expect to have their picture taken and be on TV.

If you or someone you know deserves a break after being Santa, Mrs. Claus or a Christmas Elf, send an email to All Terrain Public Relations at public.relations@allterrain.net. Include your name, email address, phone number, a photo of yourself in a Claus outfit, and a description of why you should be part of the special “Vacationing Santas” section. If you are selected, details on how to pick up your tickets at the United Center on December 26 will be provided.

Dallas Santa Rampage starting point changed

The starting point for Santa Rampage has changed. We'll be meeting at Sloppyworld, 3601 Parry Ave, in Expo Park, www.sloppyworld.com. Sloppyworld is currently a BYOB establishment while they wait for their liquor license to come through.

They have waived the cover charge for Santa until it's time for Santa to board the sleighs for the tour. The venue will be open until 4 a.m., and there has been some mention of a reduction in the normal $5 cover charge for Santa once he returns from the sleigh rides. It'll be a great place to sober up so Santa doesn't have to see himself featured on the evening news.

Friday, December 21st, 2007 at 9PM sharp, calling all Santa’s, Elves, and Reindeer for another unforgettable blast up the Las Vegas Strip. This will be our fourth winter rampage; we think we’re figuring this stuff out. Or not.

WHAT IS SANTA RAMPAGE? Join Santa and his band of merry freaks as the make their way in and out of casino’s, bars, and other establishments spreading holiday jeer and merriment, singing naughty Christmas Carols, and generally having a blast! NO FORCE ON EARTH CAN STOP A HUNDRED SANTAS.

HERE’S THE RULES SANTA:
1. You MUST BE IN COSTUME to attend! Merely putting on a Santa hat an jeans does NOT cut it. No street clothes are allowed on Santa Rampage! Every time we do this it seems a couple of people show up in street clothes expecting to hang out with Santa, please don’t even bother. Either get/make a real costume (see links below) or stay home. Really, we hope you’ll participate!
2. Don’t f**k with little kids. Nothings says “please kick my ass Dad” like making a little kid cry. Don’t do it. ALWAYS ask permission before approaching kids. And only give them toys with their parent’s permission.
3. Don’t f**k with the cops or security. These casinos don’t give a damn about Santa. Always do what they say, and be respectful. If we are asked to leave, then we leave as a group.
4. Stay together. “No force on earth can top a hundred Santas” is true. But there are a lot of forces that can stop one or two. There is power in numbers, use it.
5. This is an exercise in radical self reliance. YOU and you alone are responsible for your own well being. If you get too drunk or start trouble, then Santa will leave your happy ass to your fate. Santa’s got a schedule to maintain. You should probably eat before hand as well. Be prepared for anything Santa.
6. This is a 21+ event as Santa will be bar hopping. Also, you should bring some spending money even if you don’t drink. Experience has shown this to be true.
7. No one is in charge. When asked the answer to almost every question is “Santa” Here’s a couple of examples: “Who are you guys?” We’re Santa “Why are you doing this?” Because I’m Santa “Who organized this?” Santa “Who’s in charge here?” Santa. See a pattern here?
8. Bring toys or gifts to give out along the way.

That’s about it! Pretty simple huh? We think so.

THE SCHEDULE:
We will be posting the schedule as we get closer to the date. We’re working on some new ideas this time and considering some new places for Santa to get thrown out of, er…. we mean ‘visit’, yes that’s it! As soon as we have the schedule nailed down we will post it to the four winds. All we know now is that we’re meeting at 9PM on Friday December 21 ‘somewhere’ on the Las Vegas strip. So we can’t wait to see all you fabulous festive freaks there, in costume, and ready to have some fun! We will provide the naughty carols, and again, please eat/drink/poop before we start.

NYC Santacon date change?

We Santas here in the Baltimore / Washington DC area are sad that NYC santacon is clashing with the DC Santarchy. In previous years, the NYC event was the weekend after ours. This allowed for Jolly NYC Santas to come down and join us in DC and vice versa. We loved this! Many DC Santas were planning on going to NYC this year (two Santa events in a row! Yay!). But alas.....now we can't and NYC Santas can't some make mayhem in the Nation's Capitol with us.

NYC Santas have changed their usual date. Why?
Anyone know if that could change?
Anyone here in contact with the NYC Santa who changed the date?
Any chance we could offer bribes to change it back?

WHAT: Las Vegas’ Summer Santa Rampage in July (Yes it’s hot….DUH!!)
WHERE: On the Strip in front of Bellagio, center alcove in front of the fountains
WHEN: Friday July 13th at 9pm sharp
WHO: Santa and all of his minions
WHY: Because it’s July and people have forgotten ‘the meaning of Christmas’.
HOW: You drive there, park, walk, and participate, IN COSTUME please.

Join Santa, Mrs. Clause, some disgruntled elves, and possibly a reindeer or two as they make their way up and down the Las Vegas Strip spreading holiday cheer! This is a costumed event, which means street clothes are NOT allowed please.

What the hell is this all about you may ask? See the links below.
Put simply; Santa Rampage is the MOST FUN you will EVER have with your clothes on. This is an adult activity and involves bar hopping, naughty caroling in public, and spreading holiday merriment upon the unsuspecting masses. You MUST be in costume to attend, so merrily putting on a Santa hat and a pair of jeans does NOT cut it. Please either dress up, or stay home Santa! Cheap Santa suits can be had for around $25, and you have a month to get one so no excuses, see below.

Here’s the rules Santa:

1. You MUST be dressed in costume to attend as either Santa, Mrs. Clause, an elf or a reindeer (or some part thereof) to attend. NO STREET CLOTHES ARE ALLOWED.

2. You and you alone are responsible for your well being, this is radical self reliance. If you start trouble then you are on your own Santa, and Santa will leave your happy ass to your fate.

3. Don’t f**k with little kids. Nothing says “please kick my ass Dad” like making a little kid cry. Always ask permission before giving a kid a toy. Kids take Santa VERY seriously. Experience has shown that it’s best to avoid kids whenever possible.

5. Wear comfortable shoes, we will be walking about 4 miles total on this trip.

7. You may want to print the schedule below; Santa will be departing promptly at the times listed. Santa has a schedule to keep.

8. STAY TOGETHER. “No force on Earth can stop a hundred Santa’s” but there are several that can stop one or two. Not everyone loves Santa; but there is power in numbers, use it. No Santa left behind.

11. Bring gifts or toys to hand out. Think cheap, cute stuff that people will dig. This Santa prefers little cans of Play-Doh and Plastic Army Men, you may like something different. Be creative!

12. NO STREET CLOTHES. We know we said it before, but every time we do this somebody shows up in jeans and a Santa hat expecting to hang out and pal around with Santa. Well it ain’t happening this time! Either dress up or stay home please.

We will provide you with naughty Christmas Carols to sing, please don’t print them out in advance so we’re all on the same page. Alternate parking is Planet Hollywood across the street from Bellagio or perhaps Monte Carlo down the street. PLEASE feed yourself before the rampage, Santa is not hungry; he’s got holiday cheer to spread and a schedule to keep. Stay together.

OK.....So I can't picket the sexist Santas in Baltimore this year cause I have to work. Oh well!....BUT SOMEDAY!!! mmwwwahahahaha

I had accepted that the "other" Santas were just lame and I'd have more fun at Santarchy anyway - BUT they interviewed one of the organizers of www.santacrawl.com on 98 Rock here in Baltimore yesterday morning and I almost threw up. The 'morning personalities' were just as idiotic as the santa guy. Even the female DJ - total neanderthall ideas about women and men! "Oh women don't like it anyway - and if they show up, we haze them till they leave". "The Ladies get their shopping day on black Friday, so we get the bar crawl." They also said that women couldn't last as long as they do, would get tired and whine, etc. The DJ's just agreed and added to the stereotype.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! That kind of thing makes me ill!
I do not live to shop and I NEVER shop on black Friday - hate the crowds and don't have the patience for standing in line. Not to mention my low patience for idiots and my poverty. LOL

So I just had to send off a harsh but funny email to the radio station and the santacrawl dudes.

I just have to find a way to get out of our annual event at work next year so I can show up to that santa crawl. I'd love to see a contigent of both male and female cacophonist/burner santas invade that event with picket signs - "Say NO to sexist santas!" and such. We could do funny cheers and follow them around - and if they copped attitude, just laugh and then kiss all over eachother or even them!

It’s that time of year again….
Time for the annual Las Vegas SANTA RAMPAGE!!
Saturday December 16th, 2006 @ 9pm in front of The Bellagio. Join Santa and his elves (and reindeer?) as they make their way up and down the strip singing naughty Christmas Carols, drinking with abandon, spreading holiday cheer, and generally causing mayhem. This has quickly become one of the premiere Santacon’s on the west coast because the Vegas strip is PERFECT for this sort of thing, it’s a no brainer!

There are just a few rules you need to know to have the most fun you will ever have with your pants on!
1. COSTUMES: You MUST be in a Santa, Elf, Reindeer, or other similar COSTUME to attend, so merely putting on a Santa hat with street clothes DOES NOT cut it. PLEASE: DRESS UP or stay home. We really mean this kids.
2. NO ONE IS IN CHARGE. I am not in charge and neither are you ‘Santa’. If ANYONE asks you who’s in charge, the answer always is and has been ‘Santa’. In fact the answer to almost all questions is “SANTA”. “Who are you guys?” Santa “Who set this up?” Santa “Who are YOU?” I’m Santa. “Why are you guys doing this?” Because we’re Santa. See a pattern here? Remember, at this event YOU ARE SANTA and you know when these people are sleeping and awake. Carry yourselves accordingly. Be the Santa.
3. Don’t f**k with security or the cops. Do as you are told. These casinos take their operations very seriously; do what they say promptly and without attitude. If you make trouble, shoplift, or get into an altercation with the cops or security you are on your own and Santa will leave your happy ass to suffer the consequences. Santa has a schedule to maintain.
4. Don’t f**k with little kids. Nothing says “please kick my ass Dad!’ like making a little kid cry. ALWAYS ask permission before giving kids toys, and always be respectful of their parents. Probably best to avoid them whenever possible.
5. STAY TOGETHER. ‘No force on earth can stop one hundred Santas’ is very true. But there are a lot of forces that can stop one or two Santa’s. Stay with the group. Not everyone loves Santa. Don’t get side tracked and be aware of the time. Because when the time comes, Santa is out of there baby! Probably a good idea to print the schedule below.
6. Bring toys or gifts to give out. We like little trinkets or unique gifts. Some Santas carry lumps of charcoal for grumpy people. (yes, they’re out there)
7. Hydrate or die. Remember to drink some water or bring some with you. Though it will be cold, this is still the desert and you’re losing water even though you probably don’t realize it.
8. Bring some cash. Even if you don’t drink, you may want to buy a soda or something and Game Works will cost you around $15 to have any fun at all. Santa WILL ride that mechanical bull!!

Here’s some other tips gleaned from three years of Santa Rampages on the strip:

Leave your house or hotel EARLY. The strip is a complete and total mess on Saturday night (which is why Santa will be there, duh) and parking takes for ever. You won’t want to miss the first hour at the Bellagio because it’s simply not right. So show up promptly at 9pm. Hint: You may want to park at Monte Carlo and walk up to Bellagio to avoid the post event slog back to Bellagio, or,if you plan on dropping out early (pussy), park THERE and then walk to the meet up point at The Bellagio.
Wear comfortable shoes. Santa will be walking around 10 miles on the rampage (sleigh is in the shop).
Your feet will thank you. We will bring some copies of the naughty Carols so we can go caroling together, or print your own, Santa! Many Santa’s prefer to bring their own booze, it’s waaay cheaper.

Intoxicated mobs of festively garbed Santas will be invading towns across North America in the coming weeks.

The Santarchists, as participants call themselves, have been gathering in cities across North American every year since 1994. Their festivities, called Santacons, are a variation on flash mobs -- the phenomenon in which people converge suddenly at a prearranged place, participate in some frivolous activity and then rapidly disperse.

The Santarchists began in San Francisco and the tradition has spread across North America, including events in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Toronto. Winnipeg's Santacon -- planned for this weekend -- is so popular this year that the Santas are expected to arrive on two buses rather than by sleigh.

The Santacons are well-planned events, with routes scheduled beforehand on the Internet. Many Santarchists even gather in the weeks leading up to the event to handcraft costumes and custom-make toys out of cast-offs.

Jody Franklin, a Vancouver artist who helped introduce Santacon to Canada and who met his wife at the first one he attended in 1999, calls the fat-man festival "a kind of post-modern revival of the Roman holiday of Saturnalia.

"It's tapping into that ancient spirit of the season from a couple of thousand years ago when people would freely parade through the streets in various stages of intoxication and debauchery, passing out gifts."

John Sankey, an environmental engineer in Vancouver, has attended 10 Santacons up and down the West Coast and says four rules govern the festive night of Santas. The Claus crowd isn't allowed to mess with police, children, security or Santa. "If you follow those rules, you're not going to disturb society as a rule."

At least that's the idea. But Santacons can be noisy affairs featuring as many as a couple of hundred red-suited, white-bearded men and women bellowing ho, ho, ho at passersby while they hand out toys and candy canes.

As well, everyone knows Santa loves a parade, so what better than a parade of Santas? Santarchists delight in jamming into stores - often to visit official working Santas - crossing streets en masse, climbing monuments and pub crawling.

Video footage on one of the Santacon Web sites depicts a crowd of Santas running up and down escalators and strolling through corridors in a Winnipeg mall.

And then there's the carolling. Many Santarchists rewrite the traditional favourites. Walking in a Winter Wonderland, for instance, becomes in its new rendition Walking Around in Women's Underwear.

Other Santarchist faves include Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire and I'm Dreaming of a White Russian.

Yet run-ins between the Santas and police have been few and far between.

The San Francisco Web site includes one police report from a 1995 Santa incident: "I responded to a call of drunken Santas that vandalized and stole from the Emporium Store on Market Street. I located some of the suspect Santas."

Such reports are the exception, Santarchists say. Mr. Sankey says if one person gets out of hand, another 119 or so are nearby to make sure they follow the spirit of Santacon.

Dave McKay, a Toronto computer programmer and sometime Santarchist, notes: "The police are pretty good-natured about it. I think they'd have a hard time with the general public if they went around arresting Santa Claus."

Adds Mr. Sankey: "Most people are pretty happy to see Santa."

A hotline number will also be available if you want to try to catch up with the Santa’s, mid rampage. Awright!!
I just posted a listing on the BM Event Calendar for SantaCon at BRC 2004!!

So the deal is: SantaCon@BRC: Meet up at the Holiday Club at 5:30 street by the Blue Rooms(portopotties) at 7:pm on Thursday September 2nd. We will be having XXX-Mas all day long.
Drinks and introductions are made then we stagger onward. I'll be compiling a list of some good spots to hit, and if anyone has any suggestions PLEASE list them here!

Last x-mas we had over 100 Santi in full effect in PDX. I feel that, with our combined resources, we can more than double that in the desert this year.
Hey HO! Let's GO! HO HO HO!

PS: Any Muppetville peeps please contact me about this so we can do some pre-party-plotting and stuff on the home turf, yo. I spoke with SantaJason at length about this whole deal recently but I've lost his ##! We need to re-connect our heads on this.

SF SANTA RAMPAGE on SUNDAY 7/4 at 6PM

CALLING ALL SANTAS!

It's Christmas in July again!

SUNDAY is INDEPENDENCE DAY in SF, and Pier 39 is again hosting the Annual SF
FOURTH OF JULY WATERFRONT FESTIVAL along Fisherman's Wharf from Pier 39 all
the way west to Aquatic Park (get all the details at:
http://www.sfstation.com/city_events/fourthofjuly04.htm), and, so, of course, naturally, this being San
Francisco, all the kiddies will be expecting to see LOUD, DRUNKEN SANTAS
singing CHRISTMAS CAROLS and handing out stale candy canes at Fisherman's Wharf.

Let's not disappoint the little tykes! To get in the "spirit", we'll hit a
few of the local pubs along the way, and stop in to HOOTERS to check t-shirts
and make sure all the waitresses there are being good little/big girls.

MEET at the CABLE CAR TURNAROUND at Hyde @ Beach from 6-615PM in FULL SANTA
REGALIA (don't worry IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SANTA COSTUME, just WEAR as much RED &
green & Christmas crap as you can). Also those in partial Santa regalia will
be welcome, as well as NUDE SANTAS, STREAKING SANTAS, GOTH SANTAS, FETISH
SANTAS, LEATHER SANTAS, etc, etc, etc.

It is forecast to be a warm night for SF, and there is little or NO FOG in
the forecast, so GO FOR IT! We'll probably scare the crap outa' kids and adults
alike, anyway, so why not come as you are? Many of you will undoubtedly be
sunburned from celebrating at the other events earlier in the day:

* The BWClub NUDE HIKE to GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE BEACH (meet CLOTHED at 12-1215pm
in the Presidio at the WWII Memorial at the corner of Kobbe & Washington
streets, then get naked enroute if so inclined; http://www.BWClub.net)

* The Annual NUDE FREEDOM DAY at BAKER BEACH
(http://pages.prodigy.net/seniornude)

* The 7th Annual FOURTH OF JULY YERBA BUENA GARDENS FESTIVAL
(http://www.sfstation.com/city_events/ybgf04.htm)

At 615pm we'll head in jolly fashion from the cable car turnaround at Hyde @
Beach to the first pub we can find, and work our way east along Fisherman's
Wharf 'til we end up at Pier 39 at around 9pm, wishing the spirit(s) of the
season to passersby along the way. Fireworks start at about 930pm.

If you talk to the moderator, please be sure to give him ample opportunity to explain exactly what did and did not happen at the Nordstrom escalator and why he thinks it doesn't matter;
doesn't matter so much that he had to delete the thread and kick me off-tribe.

Santa is supposed to be fun. People have different ideas of what "fun" is, granted. But some folks seem to think Santa is a license to act like an asshole. And there are Santas out there who don't follow the four fucks.

Don't Fuck with Kids
Don't Fuck with Security
Don't Fuck with Cops
Don't Fuck with Santa

Frankly, I couldn't care less if some dumbass Santa gets arrested for doing something stupid. Seems to be an arrest every year, and always for something dumb and generally avoidable. But the Four Fucks are there for a reason, and that reason is sustainability of the event.

There were so many arrests this year, and all so easily avoidable, that it is approaching the Fourth Fuck, and threatening to get us all into trouble. I try to make it a point to have a unique Santa suit, so I won't be mistaken for some idiot who has to act like an asshole to have a good time. But the more bullshit confrontations there are, the more likely it is that we will all have to pay for what some moron thinks is amusing.

I've been doing Santa for years and am loathe to give it up just because some folks feel it is a license to be an asshole. There have NEVER been so many arrests as this year. If it keeps on like this, it will stop being fun, and then it really will only be jerks doing it. I'd like to avoid that chain of events, and strategize for a way to put the fun back into Santa. Any ideas?
